Soupy Sales Sez Do The Mouse

Soupy Sales - "Soupy Sales Sez Do The Mouse! And Other Teen Hits" (1965) - ABC-Paramount

Hello Friends,

Things are hitting an all time low tonight at the Vinyl in the Valley Headquarters!

Actually, this is a pretty fun novelty record from 1965.

Milton Supman, aka Soupy Sales, was a radio personality and star of the hit kids t.v. show, Lunch with Soupy Sales and, later, The Soupy Sales Show.  Zany, upbeat comedy with an appeal to both children and adults, Soupy was pretty much beloved by the baby boom generation.  There's not really anything around today that you can compare him to.  The closest we can think of is maybe Pee-Wee's Playhouse??

This novelty record contains Soupy's best and biggest hit, "The Mouse", as well as its sequel, "Mouse Trap".  There's also Soupy's take on the perpetually annoying, "The Name Game".  Geez!

RATING: 3 your dog is going to have a puppy and we're running out of coke* out of 5

* Actual lyrics to the most-definitely racist and somewhat offensive, "Speedy Gonzales"!

Other lyrics include lines about being drunk, having a hole in the roof of an adobe, hallways piled up with garbage, enchiladas in the ice box and having "tacos thrown" in the protagonist's face upon arriving home!  Ay Caramba!
