Iron Maiden - "Remember Tomorrow" (1980)

Hello Friends,

An early tune from Iron Maiden's first, self-titled LP.

You're probably like, "Hey, Bruce Dickinson looks a lot different!"

And you'd be right.  That's Maiden's original singer, Paul Di'Anno, who appeared on their first two records.  It wasn't until their third LP, 1982's The Number of The Beast, that Dickinson took over as lead vocalist!

Singles Night: Uncle Acid - "Pusher Man" b/w "Remember Tomorrow" (2016)

Hello Friends,

We're making our way through some 45's again tonight and this one, from English doom rockers, Uncle Acid & The Deadbeats is a f'ing killer.

The A-side, "Pusher Man", is a Manson-inspired creepout from their great 2015 release, the appropriately titled, The Night Creeper.

The B-side is a doom-laden & sludgy cover of an early Iron Maiden tune, "Remember Tomorrow".  (We're gonna have to post a video of the original version of this tune at some point in the very near future!)

Great listen on a dark Autumn night.

Probably sleeping with the lights on tonight!

Chet Baker & Paul Desmond - "Autumn Leaves" (1974)

Thank-fucking-god that Fall's finally here!

When it comes to the four seasons Fall is heads and shoulder's above the rest!

Time for sipping bourbon on cool, dark nights; smoking pipes; carving pumpkins; reaping harvests; watching football while eating Sunday roasts; scary movies and slutty Halloween costumes!  What's not to love?

Especially when this summer has been such a killer.

Fun Facts: Mabon is the pagan celebration of the Autumnal Equinox.

Here's a kind of sexy witch named Courtney to explain it further!  Enjoy!

* She better watch it with all the Isis talk before Courtney gets her witchy-ass landed on a watch list!

** Also, isn't Courtney probably the worst witch name ever?  Its not even scary! #dumbwitchnames

Louis Armstrong - "Basin Street Blues" (1964)

Nice color footage of Louis and his All Stars live on NBC's long-running Bell Telephone Hour.

Enjoy!

Singles Night: Joan Jett & the Blackhearts - "Fake Friends" b/w "Nitetime" (1983)

We're plowing through some more 45's tonight.

"Fake Friends" was the first single from Joan Jett's third record, Album.

Great A-side backed with a even more rocking and impossibly catchy B-side, "Nitetime" (complete with an endless groove which must have fucked up a lot of jukeboxes back in the day!)

Fantastic!

Bloody Hammers - "Bloodletting On The Kiss" (2016)

Hello Friends,

These weirdos are at it again.

This song is from the band's 2016 record, "Lovely Sorts of Death".

P.S. In case you were wondering, the sexy topless succubus in this video is the fetish model, Jordan Sin. Here's a link to her modeling website: https://modeljordansin.com/.

Enjoy!

Singles Night: Chic - "Le Freak" b/w "Savior Faire" (1978)

Hello Friends,

Tonight on Vinyl in the Valley we're going to be catching up on a pile of 45's we've dug up recently. Enjoy!

First up is Chic's disco-era Classic, "Le Freak" b/w the funky instrumental "Savoir Faire"

Chic was a disco-funk band formed in 1976 by guitarist Nile Rodgers & bassist Bernard Edwards.  "Le Freak" is, of course, the 1978 monster disco hit.  The song is pretty much an ode to the long and obnoxious lines outside of NYC's famed Studio 54.  "Come on down to the 54".

The B-side is the rather smooth sounding instrumental "Savoir Faire" featuring some six-finger shredding by Rodgers (falling somewhere between the preciseness of Frank Zappa and the soulfulness of Purple Rain-era Prince.)

Rumor has it that "Le Freak" was Atlantic Records' top-selling record of all time!

Soupy Sales Sez Do The Mouse

Soupy Sales - "Soupy Sales Sez Do The Mouse! And Other Teen Hits" (1965) - ABC-Paramount

Hello Friends,

Things are hitting an all time low tonight at the Vinyl in the Valley Headquarters!

Actually, this is a pretty fun novelty record from 1965.

Milton Supman, aka Soupy Sales, was a radio personality and star of the hit kids t.v. show, Lunch with Soupy Sales and, later, The Soupy Sales Show.  Zany, upbeat comedy with an appeal to both children and adults, Soupy was pretty much beloved by the baby boom generation.  There's not really anything around today that you can compare him to.  The closest we can think of is maybe Pee-Wee's Playhouse??

This novelty record contains Soupy's best and biggest hit, "The Mouse", as well as its sequel, "Mouse Trap".  There's also Soupy's take on the perpetually annoying, "The Name Game".  Geez!

RATING: 3 your dog is going to have a puppy and we're running out of coke* out of 5

* Actual lyrics to the most-definitely racist and somewhat offensive, "Speedy Gonzales"!

Other lyrics include lines about being drunk, having a hole in the roof of an adobe, hallways piled up with garbage, enchiladas in the ice box and having "tacos thrown" in the protagonist's face upon arriving home!  Ay Caramba!
